Since I've moved, I've been able to take two trips to Leelanau county in Northern Michigan.  One is the Spring and one in the Summer.  It's such a beautiful place I just can't help but try and capture it!

Spring 2009

Here are a couple pictures I took from two different cherry orchards in Leelanau county.

I was really lucky to have the blue sky because during my three-day visit it was primarily cloudy and rainy.

Here's a photo of the Grand Traverse Bay (West) that I took from an awesome lookout my boyfriend found on this tall, tall hill.

I totally fell in love with the rich, crisp color of the water and HAD to take a picture!

And then finally here is a picture of an iconic Trillium flower.

I've seen this flower in a lot of pictures alongside historic and famous sites and scenery that represent Leelanau county.  Apparently it's a moderately rare flower and it just so happens that it grows wild in a little patch in my boyfriend's granparent's yard over in Leland.  From what my boyfriend says, picking a trillium just for the flower severely harms the plant and because of this (and I'm assuming because of it's semi-rarity as well) it's actually illegal to pick a trillium plant in Michigan, some other northern states, and Canada, unless you have permission by the state or something.

So, I thought I would honor this beautiful and semi-rare flower by taking it's picture...

Summer 2009

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would have wanted; I was so busy visiting with my boyfriend's family and my friends!  But I couldn't miss capturing a couple photos of this place in particular!

Here is one of my favorite spots to chill in Leland; a little out-of-the-way spot called Netto's Beach by the locals.  It's situated on the northern part of Lake Leelanau where the lake separates the skinny little penninsula of Leland from the main penninsula of Leelanau county.

The beach is close to the Yacht Club and the owners of the Yacht Club that live right next to it, and they have this really cool spinny slide thingee on a giant raft that I'm very envious of.  So I had to include it in the picture.  The water here is also clear, you can see it a little in the photo just below this one.  But it's so hard to do the water purity any justice with just a picture.  Take a look; that's not just the reflection of the dock pole in the upper left had corner of the bottom picture; it's what you can see of pole all the way down to the sand!

I hope you enjoyed my pictures!
